The hip and the Beau Monde descended upon the valley for Coachella. The style set showed up in bathing suits worn as outer wear, tube tops worn as skirts made with tie dyed fabrics and 1970’s bohemian paisleys. It was an ode to days of free love in the warm California sun.

The modern gypsy as punk look was right at home at Coachella.  Maxi dresses in easy to wear soft loose fabrics held up to the heat and gave a sexy modern update to a classic. Oversized tops were sheer and worn with everything from dresses to shorts.

Rock Roots
Give it up for stand out pieces from the jet set.  Rock Royalty wore Isabel Marant’s slim fitting Hendrix-esque trousers a throwback to the days of Woodstock. The Fashionista’s hung out in vintage style threads with tattoo’s and body jewelry. Lots of bolts through the nose.

 To Get The Look.  Shop vintage. Raid your grannies closet. Some of these clothes are so seventies. Look for paisleys and madras prints. Add modern accessories to give the vintage pieces an updated look. Check out my list of favorites below.

If The Shoe Fits

 Be bold.  The focus is on the feet. Prada sandals look chic with shorts. Perfect for the desert. Wear them with your maxi dresses, jeans and bathing suits. Be sure to get a pedicure every three weeks. Varnish your nails with bright colors and peace signs.

 I should have known the hair for Rodarte  Autumn/ Winter was designed by my favorite hairdresser Odile Gilbert. The hippie chic locks are what she calls rocker princess with a cool undone texture.
The first look at hair for Autumn/Winter is so right for our season ahead. We who live here in the warm Palm Desert or the beautiful beaches of Malibu can wear this look all year. In fact it is a look that is truly California Cool.

To Get The Look:  The flower in the middle is made from the braids to hold the hair in place. Apply Mousse to towel dried hair.  I like Judaysia Bull Moose Mousse. Load it with product to give it texture.  Blow it dry. Give your hair some loose bends with a curling iron leave the ends out. Spray each strand with Judaysia VS Shaper.  Tousle your hair, part it in the middle. Take a section at the side temple and braid . Clip the end.  To Get The Look:
 After shampooing with Judaysia VS Volumizing Shampoo towel dry and apply Judaysia Mousse at the roots. Spray on Judaysia Thic and comb through to the ends.  This will thicken your hair and give it all night hold. Blow dry with a large natural boar bristle round brush.  Set your hair on large Velcro rollers in a downward pattern.  Spray with Judaysia VS Volumizing Shaper Spray all over and set with heat from the blow dryer. Remove rollers. Backcomb hair and smooth using a Comare Mark V comb.  Use the metal teeth to lift hair to the desired height and pin in place with bobby pins.
